Give the Golden Gift this Season!

Dear Santa,

Woof! from Atlanta. The weather is perfect for lots of ball-chasing and long walks! I’ve been a very lucky dog enjoying these past few years with my owner and it is all thanks to Adopt a Golden Atlanta. Did you know they are the second-largest golden retriever rescue in the country? Just this year, Adopt a Golden Atlanta has saved nearly 300 dogs! That means more goldens are enjoying the holidays with a new family, enjoying holiday parties, dressing up in Santa outfits and cuddling by the fire. Sounds like the “Golden Life” to me!

It wouldn’t be possible if it weren’t for all the generous people who donated to Adopt a Golden Atlanta. Besides rescuing goldens, the donations helped provide $900 per dog in medical care, giving my pals needed surgeries and treatments so they could play in their backyards again.

Santa, this year I don’t want a big bone or squeaky stuffed animal, I just want people to continue their support and honor a dog lover with a gift in their name. By giving to Adopt a Golden Atlanta this year, donors will have their gift posted on the “In Honor” page on the website and they’ll send an email acknowledgement to the person chosen. When my owner makes a donation, my name is displayed on the website so all my golden friends can see it!

I hope you spread the holiday cheer to all of Adopt a Golden’s supporters this season!

Woof,

Rafer

PS- …maybe a bone would be nice in my stocking!

Tricia and Chuckie are the perfect pair to adopt this holiday season!

Hi there AGA!

My name is Tricia and this is my best friend Chuckie, we’re a pair of AGA orphans looking to be adopted by a family this holiday season. We’ve been together our whole life and must stay that way- but we still like to have our own bowls, toys, and beds.

I’m the socialite of the pair, always affectionate, while Chuckie is shy and easy going. He could stand to gain a few more pounds, and I’m a full bodied girl.

We want a family who will treat us to the simple things in life: walks, car rides, and naps at home… just like what our owner taught us. He grew too old to take care of us, so although we miss him and his loving care, we know AGA has the perfect family to take us in! We come from South Carolina and are ready to charm someone this holiday season!

Our December Orphan Amy is Looking to Spend the Holidays with a New Adoption Family!

Hi AGA!

My name is Amy and I’m so excited to be featured as the December Orphan of the Month! I wanted to share some information about me… I hope you’ll come visit this Sunday at the December Adoption Day!

I’m a seven year-old girl Golden looking for a family who will give me lots of attention. I’m a little scared of other animals and get nervous when I’m left alone at times, but I’m great with people- especially kids. I love to play fetch and run around, my energy is sure to brighten your day!

I hope to see you this Sunday! I’m the perfect holiday gift for someone who wants a Golden!

Krystal’s Furry Fundraiser

“Hey y’all!” – That’s how you Georgia peaches say hello, right?

Please allow me to introduce myself – my name is Krystal and I’m originally a Florida girl. By now, you are  probably wondering how I ended up in Georgia, right? Here is my story:

As a 9-year-old golden girl, my owners had to surrender me to Everglades Golden Retrieve Rescue—the local golden rescue. It was mostly because I have been dealing with skin issues. EGGR gave me vet care and took me to a dermatologist. However, I was still itchy, scabby and not getting much relief. The worst part – I had to wear a cone 24/7.

 In comes Adopt A Golden Atlanta! Dun… Dun… Dun…

As some of you know, AGA has had wonderful success helping dogs with allergies.  The big problem was getting me from South Florida to Atlanta!

Luckily, a wonderful friend of AGA was flying in from Orlando in his own plane. I was the best co-pilot – I may even consider it as a part time gig. Look at me in action!

After my big journey, AGA began to take really good care of me. I had biopsies and cultures taken to send out for testing. In the meantime, the AGA vet began making some changes, including: new food, new meds and daily medicated soaks and baths. Results came in and we found out that I have an auto-immune disease that causes my body to attack and destroy skin cells.

The good news: I’m responding well to the new medications. I already look great again (see below) and smell “so fresh and so clean.” Best of all—I’m no longer itchy, so the cone has been banished to the closet.

The bad news: I’ve been at the vet nearly three weeks. I will be here for another two weeks. I need my daily medicated soaks and baths. In order to pay for all of my bills, AGA needs to raise $4,800.  AGA has been extremely kind to me—they saved my life for goodness sake! Please donate to the Krystal Fund so they can pay my bills and help others, like me.

Despite everything I have been going through, I am the happiest golden girl.  I love all the attention I receive, when I hang out at the vet’s front desk. Since the vet has helped me out so much, I’m giving back by being the “Official Welcome Committee.” My duties include wagging my tail and smiling to all visitors –people, dogs and cats.

I am forever grateful to Adopt A Golden Atlanta. You guys have changed my entire life!

Thank you for reading my story and thank you in advance for your donations.

Love,

Krystal
