Turkey Dogs 2 – June 20, 2015
In June, just six weeks after bringing in the first group of Golden Retrievers from Turkey, Adopt a Golden Atlanta (AGA) arranged for 15 more Goldens to come to Atlanta. While the first flight in May included dogs who had lived in shelters as much as four years, this June flight was for young dogs – six months to four years of age – who had been living in the streets. Golden Retrievers are a gentle breed and don’t fight back, so life on the street was hard for these dogs.
Nathaniel, a six-month-old Golden Retriever was pushed out of a car and was left at a local car wash in Turkey. Nathaniel waited two days for his owners to return. Our Turkish volunteer friends were able to get him to safety and knew he was destined to come to America on the next flight.
On June 20, 2015, AGA welcomed Nathaniel, Sullivan, Grover, McKinley, Patton, Hancock, Ralph, Truman, Sherman, Rutherford, Free, Revere, Monroe, Kennedy and Audie.
