UPDATE: Thank you to Puja Gulati, Wrigley, and an anonymous sponsor for donating in Category A. And thank you to another Anonymous donor for closing out my treatment fundraising with a Category D donation.
I’m Bailey, and I’m just beginning a brand-new chapter of my life. I recently retired from being a breeder dog, and while change can feel a little overwhelming, the kind people at AGA promised me this next part would be all about me — learning, loving, and finally feeling safe.
I’m a very sweet, gentle girl who’s still a bit shy as I figure out the world beyond what I’ve always known. I love people and do wonderfully with other dogs, and having a confident canine friend helps me feel braver every day. A fenced yard and an experienced adopter will help me continue to grow my confidence at my own pace. Little kids might be a bit too much for me right now, but calm, patient humans are my favorite.
I’m already starting to come out of my shell… just the other day, I excitedly picked up a tennis ball all by myself, and everyone cheered. Moments like that are big wins for me. I’m about 6 years old (though the vet thinks I may be a little closer to 8), weigh around 60 pounds, and I’m learning that gentle affection and quiet encouragement feel pretty wonderful.
Unfortunately, I am heartworm positive and will need treatment, which AGA is helping coordinate. Treatment costs about $1,000, and I will need it before I can be completely healthy again. AGA is looking for sponsors to help me get better so I can start my new life strong and happy. What I need most, though, is a loving home willing to let me blossom in my own time. If you believe the best love stories start slowly and grow stronger every day, I just might be your girl. Best Wishes, Bailey
