Somehow, even after everything I’ve been through, I still believe the world can be kind. My name is Maggie, and I’m a 3-year-old golden girl who found her way to AGA after being picked up as a stray by Newton County Animal Shelter. When no one came looking for me, the shelter staff — who loved me very much — were relieved to see AGA step in and promise me a safer, softer future.

I’ve been a wonderful house guest in foster care. I’m fully house-trained, have good house manners, and enjoy being part of everyday home life. While being treated for pneumonia (which I am now healed from), the vet discovered something heartbreaking… old BB pellets inside me, evidence that I wasn’t always treated with kindness. But here’s the part that matters most: none of that changed my heart. I’m still gentle, trusting, and full of love.

What makes me happiest now is being close to my people. I love curling up on the couch, leaning into my foster parents, and soaking up head rubs (they’re my absolute favorite). I ride well in the car, have met children and done well, and I’m calm and unbothered when I see other dogs on walks, even though I haven’t been introduced to one in my foster home yet. I’m not a fan of crates, but I do just fine enjoying my space and being near my people.

I’m a bigger girl at about 95 pounds and would benefit from continued weight loss, so I’m looking for an active home that can help me stay motivated with walks, gentle exercise, and healthy routines. I’m ready for a life filled with kindness, comfort, and consistency. a place where I can continue to heal and finally be cherished the way I always deserved. If you have room in your heart (and on your couch) for a sweet soul who still believes in love, I promise I’ll return it tenfold. With all my heart, Maggie
