Hi everyone, I’m Marlin, and even though my life didn’t start out the way a young Golden’s should, I’m finally getting my chance to shine. Not long ago, my brother (we think), Mark, and I ended up at the DeKalb County Animal Shelter as strays. We were skinny, dirty, and pretty confused about how we got there. The shelter staff could tell we’d been neglected for a long time, so they reached out to AGA to help us start over. That’s when everything finally began to change.

I’m only one year old, which means I’ve still got plenty of puppy energy, the happy kind, with lots of tail wags and love for every kind human I meet. Even when things were hard, I never stopped hoping someone would help us. And now that I’ve had vet care, good food, and gentle hands looking after me, I’m feeling so much better. My soft golden coat is shining again, my belly is full, and my heart is finally calm.

I weigh about 48 pounds right now, but I’ve got some healthy weight to gain. Mostly, though, I’m just ready to find the family who’ll love me the way I’ve always wanted to be loved. I’m sweet, affectionate, eager to learn, and so excited to begin my real life, the one where I’m safe, cared for, and never forgotten. If you’ve been looking for a young Golden with a big heart and an even bigger desire to love his people, I’m here… and I’m ready to go home. Hope to meet you soon. Much love, Marlin

*I recently got neutered, so that is why I have a cute outfit on in some of my photos!
