Hi friends, it’s me, Sid, though now everyone calls me Squid (a nickname my foster mom gave me because she said I was silly and wiggly, and my forever family loved it so much they kept it). My story started in a place no dog should ever have to live. I was one of 20 dogs left outside on a farm with no roof, no bed, no toys, and no love. When my owner passed away, I didn’t know what would happen to me. I was so scared of people that they had to trap me just to bring me to safety. By then, I was covered in dirt, fire ants, and pain from ear infections, burnt paws, and broken teeth. Life had taught me to be afraid.
But then AGA and my foster family showed me something new… kindness. They gave me a soft bed, toys of my very own, and gentle hands that never hurt me. Little by little, I started to believe that maybe the world wasn’t so scary after all. I learned that humans could be safe. That love could feel good. That I could finally just be… a dog.
The best part of my journey came when I met my forever family. They had lost their beloved senior dog and wanted to open their hearts again. They saw me… not just the scared, broken boy I once was, but the loving, goofy soul underneath. Now I have a brother named Finn (another AGA alum) who wrestles with me until bedtime and cuddles with me when we’re tired. We run in our fenced yard, go on adventures, and share nightly doggy ice cream. Every day, I’m reminded that I am safe, I am loved, and I am finally home. I started as Sid, a scared little farm dog with nothing. But today, I am Squid, joyful, playful, and cherished. My story is proof that love really does heal all wounds. Thank you to everyone who helped me get to where I am today. Extra Love and Kisses, Squid
