I was called Steele Pup, but my new name is Hazel. I finally know what it feels like to be home.

When I first came to AGA at only 8-months old, life had been pretty scary. I had been wandering the streets of South GA with Blazer Pup and Scout, doing my best to survive. We were hungry, tired, and in rough shape, but AGA stepped in and changed everything.

Once I received the medical care I needed, a warm bath, and a safe foster home, I started to realize that life could be so much better. I already loved being around other dogs – they had been my only companions for a while – but I quickly discovered that people could be pretty amazing too. I loved their kindness, gentle hands, and all the affection they had to give.

Then I met my forever family. They had recently lost one of their beloved dogs and were ready to open their hearts again. The moment we met, we all knew it was meant to be. Now I’m Hazel, and I’m settling into the wonderful life I always deserved.

I have a mom and dad who work from home, three human siblings who already love me so much, and an AGA sister named Charli to show me the ropes. I love following Charli around our fenced backyard, happily accept treats from every member of my family, and I’m growing more confident every single day. I’m even learning new things through my in-home training, and everyone tells me how proud they are of me.

Looking back, it’s hard to believe how far I’ve come. Thank you to everyone at AGA who helped me along the way and to my amazing family for giving me the love, patience, and forever home I’ve always dreamed of. My new life is just beginning, and I couldn’t be happier. Kisses, Hazel (formerly Steele Pup)
