Abbey is a 9 or 10 year old female, overweight golden retriever who was rescued from an animal shelter in south Georgia when her previous owners brought her there because she had started getting into fights with the 5 year old resident Cocker Spaniel. The family has had the Cocker since he was a puppy and Abbey joined the family only 2 years ago. The Cocker was very alpha and Abbey did not want to share her toys or food. In her foster home she was fine with the other dogs and a perfect house guest. Now she is setting an example for all golden loves in her new home, full of other creatures. Abbey has an incredible new family, with a wonderful new mom, dad, young human children and other children too. As Abbey came down the driveway to her new home, the younger children ran out waving and all exclaiming “she is beautiful”. Of course, we agree! Abbey now joins a large household including 7 children, chickens, cows, cats and a parakeet. And the family is committed to getting Abbey to a healthy weight – which won’t take long as she has 5 acres to roam and lots of balls to chase with the boys. Abbey is a special old gal with a ton of love to give and her new family certainly deserves it. Abbey is now wearing a permanent smile on her face.
