Alexis Pup is a very sweet natured female golden retriever puppy. She is around 4 to 5 months old and was abandoned in a home when her “owners” moved out. She was found all alone in the home and taken to the shelter where they found that she could not walk on her right back leg. It was clearly injured and causing her lots of pain. Now you ask, who can leave a puppy abandoned in a home – particularly when she is hurt? We aren’t allowed to use bad language on our website but you know without us having to say anything. We picked her up at the shelter and found out she is THE sweetest girl ever! Alexis or Lexie for short, was shaking uncontrollably when we put her in the car but soon calmed down when she knew everything would be OK. When our volunteer called her a “good girl” she perked up as if to say “I am, I really am!” Of course she is – they all are. Who knows what happened to her but she loves humans unconditionally anyway. She was immediately taken to one of our vets where she was examined and found to have a broken femur right above the knee. It was a pretty bad break with lots of scar tissue because of the time lapse since the injury. Her surgery went well and she is now happy and loved too. Alexis pup was adopted a young couple who had recently lost their dog to cancer. They were very patient in their search for the perfect puppy then along came Alexis who needed the perfect foster family with plans to adopt. So far, Lexie’s leg looks great and she is putting weight on it. Now she has her perfect, quiet home and a family willing to do her rehab exercises with her 4 times daily. They have no other dogs and only a cat who likes dogs. Along the way, they fell in love with her and couldn’t wait to adopt her. Alexis will soon finish her rehab and is looking forward to warm weather when the cover to the pool comes off and mom and dad teach her to swim, which is the best thing that could happen to her leg besides consistent walking. She is being spoiled rotten and we all know she deserves it. Her sad days are finally over.
