We got the call today from the shelter. They had found a stray that they thought was a golden. They told us she was old and only had three legs and she was blind and she was deaf and she needed us. One of our volunteers rushed to get her. She was so sad. She deserved a pretty name and we called her Almondine. Her one back leg was so arthritic that she could no longer walk. She was carried to our car and this is the photo taken of her. She was comfortable in the car…almost like riding was a favorite thing. Once at our vet, she was brave. Her heart didn’t sound good though. We gave her water and food and tried to make her comfortable. We talked to the vet and she said she had never seen a golden this bad. We needed to help her leave this world and we did. AGA has always said we will never let a golden die in a shelter and we were true to our word today. Sweet dreams sweet Almondine.
