UPDATE 8-14: YESTERDAY BARLEY COULDN’T WALK. HIS BACKLEGS WERE TOO WEAK AND HE WAS UNABLE TO PUT WEIGHT ON BOTH FRONT LEGS. HIS FOSTER RUSHED HIM TO THE VET WHERE THE DIAGNOSIS WAS GRIM. BARLEY HAD CANCER IN HIS FRONT LEG AND NOTHING COULD BE DONE. THIS MORNING, HIS FOSTER MOM AND HIS FORMER DAD, MOM & BABY GIRL WERE WITH HIM WHEN HE CROSSED THE BRIDGE. HIS OWNERS TOOK BARLEY HOME TO BURY HIM ON THE PROPERTY HE GREW UP ON. BARLEY IS NOW RUNNING PAIN FREE CHASING BUTTERFLYS AND IS WITH SOME VERY SPECIAL GOLDENS. BACKGROUND: Meet Barley, an 11 year old male golden. His AKC name is “America’s Best Barley” and he sure lives up to that. His owners are heartbroken they had to give him up but they are strapped for money and have a new baby and can’t afford to give Barley the care he needs. Barley is a bit stiff and will be on arthritis meds and he probably needs to lose some weight for his knees. He loves to swim and swimming would be good for his joints. We even know where Barley can get some good swim exercise when he is adopted. Barley has the best temperment… adores children, loves dogs and cats and any stranger he meets. He is not even afraid of a thunderstorm! Please consider giving Barley a home… especially if you have a pool or lake house.
