Bassinger, a 7 year old purebred golden, was picked up by animal control as a stray — several times. Then his owner called the shelter and said he would come get him. He didn’t. This sweet, gentle soul needed a forever home and he found it. A wonderful family with a Mom, Dad and 3 kids were looking for dog just like him. Unfortunately, Bass was returned to us because one of the children had a behavior problem and they were afraid Bassinger would be hurt. Bass’s foster family stood by him through it all, and eventually his fate became quite clear. One afternoon Bassinger’s foster mom took him to meet a potential family and he jumped right up on mom’s lap and wouldn’t let her go. Bass had already found his choice for a forever home- his fosters. Somehow, after fostering over 15 dogs in 3 years, Bassinger managed to work his way into his foster family’s heart. He was not prepared to leave and in the end his fosters were not prepared to let him go. So now Bassinger’s foster family is his forever one and he doesn’t have to worry about being tossed around ever again. Bass is so grateful to AGA that he and his 11 year old golden brother, Chance, have agreed to foster a good looking golden girl in the future. Gotta love a happy ending (and those fosters)! After many happy years Bassinger crossed rainbow bridge on December 7th 2007.
