Bear is one year old male golden whose owner walked him into a shelter and declared she “just can’t keep him” but added, “he is housebroken and leash trained”. We immediately found out he wasn’t and he was probably never in a house. But he does likes toys and jumping up and down. Typical puppy like behavior of a one year old that needs some basic good manners training. Bear will grab your hand in his mouth and he pulls hard on the leash so we don’t put a lot of credence into what his former owner reported. What we do know is he is smart. In one short training session, we went over and over “sit” with treats and he was listening and trying hard. Our best description for Bear is if he could talk, he would probably be talking a mile a minute. And, yes, in this photo opp, he was a wiggle worm. Bear has found his forever home. Mom and dad recently lost their dog but after some time they decided they were ready to adopt again and they fell head over heels for Bear. Bear’s new home has a great back yard complete with its very own cat. We are certain that Bear’s training will continue but when he does act up Pamba, the family cat, will certainly be there to correct him.
