Bella is a 21-month old female Golden Retriever. A North Georgia family found her as a stray last fall and took her in. Unfortunately, she was hit by a car and due to financial limitations, nothing medically was done for her—she wasn’t even seen by a vet. Because of an obvious hip injury, a caring neighbor convinced the “owners” to surrender her to the Humane Society for treatment. Once they saw her condition, the shelter contacted AGA immediately. The shelter told us: “We want to ensure that whoever adopts her this time is aware and willing to provide for her needs FOR LIFE and we know you guys do such a fantastic job of screening and following up with adopters.” We promised she would get a fabulous home once she is well. X-rays showed Bella needed FHO surgery and thanks to several very generous people who donated all the money we needed her surgery is now behind her. Now she just has to go for physical therapy until she is completely better. So we needed to find a family committed to her recovery and her success. Well, after just a short while Bella’s wishes were answered! Along came mom, dad and their 7-year old, chow mix, Chewie. Mom is a school teacher and will be able to spend time with Bella as she settles into her new. Dad will join in taking an active role in seeing that Bella continues to receive her heat treatments, stretching exercises, and twice a day walks. Bella is truly going to live the life of a princess.
