Berklee is a 4 year old tiny purebred female golden who was being used as a breeder dog. The property she was living on had been abandoned and so was she. When we first brought her into the program, she was scared and just petrified of almost everything and everybody and only weighed 40 pounds. Her foster family has worked with her using kindness, patience and understanding and she has turned into a different dog! She will always be a bit skittish but her foster family was able to keep her calm. Berklee became pretty comfortable. Her foster brothers Nana and Chipper sure helped and her foster Mom and Dad had the kind of patience and love she needed. It became pretty apparant that Berkley would have a huge setback if she left her foster home and it also became apparant that her foster mom was determined to talk dad into one more dog. It took a while but Berklee is in her forever home and is safe and loved. Yes, we lost ANOTHER foster home but it was worth it for Berklee. (By the way, Berklee is deeply in love with Nana – yes, that is a boy golden who is big and can beat you up so no jokes about his name).
