Big Red is a purebred male golden retriever who is 8 years old. Big Red comes to us from Western North Carolina as a result of a divorce. He is a sweet soul. He is blind. He has severe cataracts and his retinas are gone which means surgery will not help him. With all of that, Big Red is trusting and so nice to be around. He is great with other dogs, kids, cats, everything. He has to have help with stairs right now but as long as you keep talking to him, he does just fine. He is cautious and most comfortable with all four paws safely on the ground. Blind dogs adapt fairly easily as long their enviroment stays the same. There will be some adjustment time, but he will do fine. Please consider giving this gentle boy a home if you have a house with few stairs and a fenced in yard. Big Red was sponsored by friends of Suzanne Lohsen who lost her battle with diabetes and who loved animals. Big Red has been adopted by a wonderful family from North Carolina. Mom and dad already have 2 dogs and 2 cats and we are sure they will help Big Red learn his way around the house. His new parents are dedicated animal lovers and are determined to make sure Big Red’s future is bright and wonderful.
