UPDATE: BOSS IS A REAL TROOPER. CHECK OUT HIS PHOTO ALBUM. This is Boss – a 2 year old male golden who needs your help. Boss lived with a family up near Lake Altoona and he was in the backyard and broke out of the fence. He was gone for 3 days and when he returned, he had a severely broken back leg. Boss couldn’t tell anyone what had happened but he was obviously in a lot of pain. His owner took him to the vet to have him put down and the vet called us. Boss was in bad shape and the vet didn’t know if his leg could be saved. He had to be taken to an orthopaedist immediately. One of our volunteers took him and 12 hours later, we got good news from the bone specialist – Boss’ leg can be saved! His doctor says he has a long bone diaphyseal fracture which means his right hind leg femur bone is broken. He was eligible for a new trial where we could save some money. It is a serious operation and through it all Boss has been sweet and very stotic. He is a wonderful dog. We need two things: We need to raise $4,500 and we need to find someone who will nurse him back to health and adopt him. Because he got into the trial, his recovery could be faster. But he will be required to go back to the vet every 3 weeks for 18 weeks for check ups. That’s 6 visits. His vet is in Sandy Springs. We have found a wonderful foster family to care for Boss but still want to get him in his forever home as soon as possible. Please let us know if you would consider adopting him – Boss is good with children and other dogs but he does not like cats. And, if you can’t adopt him, please make a donation for him. Boss thanks you. (And, by the way, Boss is much more handsome than he looks in this photo. He is gorgeous!) While Boss was recovering in his foster home, his foster mom was falling more and more in love with him. So much in fact that she decided she could not give him up. The bond they develop was much too strong to break. So mom decided that she needed to adopt him. We think this was Boss’s plan all along and it just took mom a little longer to figure it out. It looks as if in the end we found everything we needed, the money to help him and a wonderful loving home to adopt him. Boss is one happy boy!
