Meet Bunny Pup – a fiesty 11 week old female purebred puppy. Bunny is named Bunny because she hops like a bunny. You see, she was born with two vertabrae in her back missing. When pups are born this way, they are usually put down but Bunny was a fighter. She was the runt of the litter and just had spunk. She gets along pretty well. Here she is with her foster mom dog, Coconut. Now, Bunny has to have surgery that is fairly new and experimental when she is 6 months old. The surgery is not to cure her but to stablize her back so she doesn’t get worse. Her chances are 50-50. She may not make it out of surgery or she may be paralyzed. But just meeting this girl convinces you we have to try. We had to raise $3,000 for her surgery and rehab. We were very short when a kind lady stepped forward and donated some items to our silent auction at the Golden Gala to go towards the Bunny Fund. The sale of those items exceeds our goal and has been put aside for Bunny when she needs it. In the meantime, that special lady fell in love with Bunny. She couldn’t get this girl out of her mind and she felt Bunny was meant to be with her. She had no other pets except a Bunny Rabbit (that’s true!). So, guess what? She adopted Bunny and has given her a wonderful home. So good that Bunny does not need her surgery at this time. She is growing and is doing well in her new home. So well that her doctor has recommended that we delay surgery until Bunny tells us she is in pain and can’t get around without feeling that pain. We and her new mom hope that day will never come.
