Cadbury is a small, puppy-like male golden retriever weighing in around 55-60 pounds who is about 2 years old. He was turned in as a stray in Alabama and the shelter over there called us to help him this sweet boy. The finders of Cadbury let him stay with them a couple of days and when the owner could not be found they took him to the shelter. The shelter had given him a heartworm test and found out he had heartworms. The vet told us the following: “He is a perfect dog. When our vet drew blood for his heartworm test, he wagged his tail and lifted his paw as if to offer his arm!” So, this boy needed a sponsor to pay for his treatment ($500) and a very nice family stepped up. Thanks to Deb, Tracy, Misty, Heather and Mr Sheets, Cadbury is as good as new. And now this lovebug is at home with his new family giving them all the love he has in his now healthy heart! Dad and Cadbury are the perfect match – Cadbury is a people dog, and small enough to live comfortably in a condominium complex where few other dogs live. Dad has had many dogs, including Goldens, and loves the breed. He also has an 11-year-old son who met Cadbury last week and hasn’t stopped talking about him since the meeting. When Cadbury went home, they met him at the door with a brand new can of tennis balls. Cadbury grabbed one and charged into the condo like he owned the place. And now he does (well, sorta).
