Meet Captain Morgan, a 2 year old male golden retriever who was owned by a soldier who got last minute orders to go to Germany. He had two days to find him a home or take him to the pound. His neighbors would not allow that and took Captain Morgan in. They have horses and children and simply could not afford to take Captain in forever so asked us to find him a great home. Here is what they say about Captain Morgan: “He is not a barker He does desire to be with you all the time and wishes he was smaller so he could be your lap dog. He is easy to bath, blow dry and doesn’t mind getting vacuumed. He is eager to go for walks and will bring you his leash. He loves all the dogs in the neighborhood and even plays with cats. He wants to jump up, but will quickly calm down when asked to. He loves to run when we take him to the barn where the horses are. He is very curious. He won’t grab at plate of food on the coffee table, even when you leave the room. His is a puppy mentally. He loves to hang his head out the window when driving down the road and will great everyone that walks up to your vehicle. Captain will let you know when someone is outside, but will quickly invite them in – so he is not a good watch dog. He is absolutely beautiful and moves with grace. He makes a great pillow when you are laying on the floor watching TV. He needs a family with children.” Since that time, Captain Morgan was adopted by a young family with a 16 month old baby, another baby on the way and an older dog. Captain wouldn’t leave the baby’s toys alone and spent a lot of time in the backyard and started digging because he was bored and wasn’t getting the exercise he needed. The other dog in the family was too old to play with Captain so the family realized he wasn’t happy and they should give him back to us to find a more active family who could give him the attention he needed. We are looking for a family with older kids (unless you have kids who pick up all their toys or don’t mind if some are stolen by a very handsome golden retriever). We also need a family who will give Captain lots of exercise. Captain would love another active dog to play with and prefers a fenced yard. Captain Morgan is a wonderful dog and has been trained well, knowing hand signals. He just demands attention and you will find that he is one dog you will be your constant companion. Well, they say the third time is a charm and we think they are right. Captain now has a great new family and they are everything he wanted and more. He has a wonderful new mom and dad who are dedicated to getting him lots of exercise. They have a wonderful home in sunny Florida located on a golf course. He has 3 new human siblings (all older of course) and his very own golden brother named Copper. These two met and it was love at first sight! With Copper, mom and dad already know what it’s like to have an active young golden and with this kind of chemistry we are sure Captain is home to stay!
