Champ is a wonderful 3 year old male golden retriever. He was owned by an elderly man in a rural area who just let Champ run free as a good ole farm dog. We received a call by a woman who got involved with what would become Champ’s greatest day! She said the her husband was talking to a lady at a restaurant and she told him that her father was in need of someone to help them with a Golden Retriever. They stated that the golden got into a fight with a pit bull that kept coming over to his house and bothering him. There was a little dog that got in the middle of the fight and was killed accidentally. The smaller dog’s owners threatened to kill Champ. This couple said they would take Champ and keep him safe. Unfortunately, when they got Champ checked by the vet, they found out he had heartworms and they couldn’t afford to treat him so they asked us if we would take this wonderful boy. We did and then the Hardy Family sponsored his treatment. Champ is one lucky guy. Champ is also a sweetheart. Now this 80 pounds of love is home where he belongs, with mom, dad and his new BFF Alexis, (also known as his human sister). He also has an 11 year old lab mix brother named Dodie, but he is already following Alexis everywhere. This is a love story in the making!
