Cherokee stole ourss hearts. He was a male golden , about 18 months or 2 years old. He was turned into a shelter in Alabama because the family had two other male dogs and they didn’t like him. The shelter called us because he instantly became their favorite dog. Everyone fell head over heels. A trainer evaluated him and felt this guy would be a great addition to any family. However something wasn’t right. Why was a trainer consulted? We soon discovered that Cherokee was terrified of many people. Had he been abused? We didn’t know but it was obvious he had been hurt and dumped and was truly confused and scared. Unfortunately, Cherokee also had heartworms and needed to be treated for those before anything else. Fortunately Cherokee had a guardian angel and in honor of her birthday, she wanted to sponsor him ($500). Thanks Judy Marks (and thank Stephen for your gift in the first place). Cherokee was very nervous at the vet and showed signs of aggression towards people but we felt it was the enviroment and he would calm down in fostercare. He didn’t. He went after several people due to his fear. Two certified trainers deemed Cherokee to be a danger to people. Cherokee was not your happy go lucky golden. He had been mistreated early on in his life and the damage was done. Cherokee is in a much better place and is now at peace.
