Chowder is a 2 year old male golden who we got from the puppy mill breeder in Missouri. He was part of the Yum Yum dogs (Cadbury, Nutmeg, Pudding and Burger). We saved Chowder from a sad life of stud dog living in a small crate. We wondered why the breeder would give up such a handsome dog. When you meet Chowder the first thing you’ll see is he a typical Golden boy, beautiful, energetic and friendly. Then you’ll notice that he coughs. It took several x-rays and some sophisticated tests to tell us that he coughs because he has some lung damage. Although we are pretty sure he wasn’t a smoker and never worked in the coals mines, we will never know what caused the damage. However, because of the damage he will be more susceptible to lung infections and will always have a slight cough. The very good news is as long as he receives antibiotics when he does get sick he should live a normal life. He gets along with all dogs. Chowder loves to talk to you. He is a great dog…just think of him as a dog that used to smoke and he has quit now. Smokers need not apply! Chowder has a new dad (or maybe in this case a new best friend). Unfortunately, his new dad lost his last golden, Jake, in December. Dad was really down without his four-legged companion and we’re convinced Jake sent Chowder dad’s way. Once these two met we knew it was meant to be. Chowder is now living the good life!
