Columbus is a wonderful 7-8 year old male golden retriever who found himself in a shelter and we were called to help him. He came in as a stray but no one claimed him. He needed to gain a few pounds, thicken his coat and find a new home. Although he was a nervous boy we learned that he is hypothyroid and just needed medication and love. Soon his coat will be thick and full but his heart is already smiling. Columbus was adopted by a wonderful family. In fact, mom is a huge dog lover and serves board of the Atlanta Humane Society. She wanted a senior golden since they are often hard to adopt. Health problems weren’t a concern but the dog would have to get along with other dogs, not be a flight risk and love to travel. So Columbus won the lottery. He now has two lab sisters, a stay at home mom, his own pool, a lake house in Michigan and his own plane. Columbus shared his first Christmas in Michigan snow to be with his grown human siblings. Mom even got him a coat to wear to keep him warm. In addition to a wonderful Christmas gift of a new family, he also got a new name, Cooper, to commemorate his new beginning.
