Sometimes there is just no understanding why bad things happen. And some of the worst happen to dogs-like me and the other dogs that used to live on chains outside with not enough food and no one to pet them and no toys. I had heartworms and a cold and ear infections and I was so sad and sick. Just when you think there will never be anything good in your life, things can change. A shelter lady helped me to get to AGA and their doctors started making me all well again and Leo, Murray and Charlie McKinnon, all former AGA orphans like me, asked their family to pay for my special medicine to get rid of the heartworms. There were no more chains and plenty of food and people who cared about me. My new family saw my picture and read about me and knew I was the one that needed them most. They came all the way from a place called N. Carolina and it wasn’t long before we were all in the car going home. My mom even sat in the back with me to make sure I wasn’t lonely or scared. It was good to have her nearby. I wish all the sad and sick dogs could be as lucky as I am. Love you all, Derby
