Drover – Adopted!

My name is Drover, and I’m a 7.5-year-old golden boy weighing about 67 pounds, ready to begin the next chapter of my life.

For years, I helped bring beautiful puppies into the world. When it was time for me to retire, my breeder wanted to make sure I found the very best home. She loves and cares for me deeply and trusted AGA to help me find the perfect family.

Now, it’s my turn to be loved and cared for! I’m still learning what life inside a home is all about, and the world can feel like a pretty big place sometimes. Loud noises, especially outside the home, can startle me, and I’m still nervous about exploring unfamiliar places. I’m making progress, but I’m not quite ready to be a social butterfly — and that’s okay! I need a calm, patient family who will take things slowly, let me build confidence at my own pace, and never push me before I’m ready.

Despite my worries, I’m as sweet as can be, with not a mean bone in my body. Once I feel safe, I love receiving attention, and I absolutely adore my foster mom! I’m house-trained, good with cats, and good with other dogs. I’m also not a fan of thunder, and fireworks may frighten me, too.

My forever home will need to be a quiet, reassuring place where I can settle in and focus on building confidence without the pressure of lots of outings or social activities. A confident canine companion is a must to help me feel more secure and show me the ropes. I will also need a secure fenced yard — this is a requirement for my safety. Having a safe outdoor space where I can explore without fear is essential.

I know I have a lot to learn, but I have so much love to give. I don’t need a family who expects me to be brave overnight. I just need someone who sees the sweet boy I am, understands that confidence takes time, and will celebrate every little step forward with me.
