From Mom: “When Dug first came to us as a foster dog, he was affectionately nicknamed ‘Big Dug’ because of his size and his need for a health transformation. He worked hard, lost the weight, and gained a new lease on life. While his size changed, one thing never did — his heart. The nickname stayed because it became the perfect description of who he was: a dog with a larger-than-life personality and an even bigger capacity to love. What was only supposed to be a temporary stop became his forever home. For the next 6½ years, Dug completed the ‘Bachelor Trio’ with his brothers, Dexter and Gunner, and brought endless joy, laughter, and love into our lives. He was happiest when he was near his people — accepting pets, collecting treats, sitting on your feet, or setting off on important missions to chase squirrels, seagulls, and chipmunks. Dug was the definition of a golden retriever: gentle, loyal, goofy, loving, and always ready to make someone smile. His tip-tap dance at mealtime, lumberjack snoring, sweet kisses, and constant companionship filled our days with happiness. Thank you, Big Dug, for every laugh, every cuddle, and every memory. We hope Heaven is filled with swimming, stuffed animals, endless treats, and all the adventures your heart desires. You may have left our sight, but you will never leave our hearts.”
