Some dogs chase tennis balls, others chase squirrels… me? I’m just chasing my shot at forever (okay, and some squirrels too). My name is Emerson, and I am a two-year-old flat-coated retriever with a heart as soft as my silky ears. I was wandering alone when I landed at Newton County Animal Control, and even though no one came looking for me, the amazing team there believed in me. They reached out to AGA, and just like that, my next chapter began. Everyone says the same thing about me: I’m sweet, calm, and gentle, but I’m still very much a puppy in many ways. I’ve got that goofy, mouthy puppy energy (what can I say, I like to explore with my mouth!), and I’m a bit of a jumper when I get excited. Because of that, I’d probably do best in a home without small kids who could get knocked over in all my happy enthusiasm.
I love people so much and crave attention. I’m a world-class cuddler and a total lovebug. I walk nicely on a leash, I’m crate trained, house trained, and I even know some commands. I’ve also got a high prey drive, so no cats for me — I’d be way too interested. I’m settling into my foster home and learning every day. I may be a little shy in new situations, but my kind heart shines through. All I want is a family who’ll help me grow in confidence, laugh with me through my silly moments, and love me for exactly who I am. If you’re looking for a loyal, affectionate buddy with puppy charm and a heart of gold, I just might be your guy. Let’s make this forever thing happen. Extra Kisses, Emerson
