Hi everyone, I’m Gibbs! Life has been a journey for me, but I’m feeling better every day thanks to some very special people. I was found in a shelter in January with some medical issues, but AGA took me in as an orphan anyway. I am about four years old and around 60 pounds of pure golden heart.
I recently had bilateral FHO surgery on both of my hips to help me live a more comfortable life. Right now, I’m doing physical therapy to get even stronger, and my foster family says I’m doing great! I still walk a little lighter on my left hind leg, and sometimes when I get excited and move too fast, I bunny hop out of old habit. My foster mom helps me stretch every day, and we go on slow, steady leash walks to help me build my muscles. A home with little to no stairs would be perfect for me, especially for going outside.
I’m a super sweet, loving boy who just wants to be near my people. I have no temperament issues at all. I’m calm, friendly, and full of love. I enjoy lounging on my dog bed in front of the big window where I can watch the world go by. Birds, walkers, and especially chipmunks keep me very entertained! I don’t bark much unless I spot a deer or another critter in the woods… then I have to let everyone know! I’m house-trained, have excellent manners, and take all my medicine like a champ (especially when peanut butter is involved — yum!).
I would love a home where someone can continue my leash walks and help me stay strong and healthy. If you’re looking for a sweet, easygoing companion who will fill your home with love (and a little chipmunk-watching excitement), I might just be your perfect match. Lots of love and kisses from Gibbs
