Meet Ginger and Maggie, our sweet little furry duo who were abandoned together. Ginger is a 7 year old female golden who was found abandoned with Maggie, the little 2 year old black lab mix who thinks she’s a golden (obviously, we agree). Yes, they were left in their house when their former owner moved out! Just left behind and the neighbors had been feeding and watering them. Finally the neighbors called Animal Control. Animal Control picked Ginger and Maggie up, tracked down the owner of dogs and she signed them over to the county. We just could not take Ginger and leave her friend behind. We try never to do that! We have tried for weeks to find them a home together and once we decided to split them up all the pieces fell into place. At our last adoption day, both girls arrived separately. They lit the entire room up with their happiness in being reunited with one another (it was Oprah show quality…seriously). At that point we knew…we had to keep our fingers crossed to find them a home where they could be together. Then a little more magic happened… A wonderful family showed up looking for a new family member. Mom (a stay-at-home mom) and Dad wanted to find the perfect addition for their 3 year old daughter and 6 year old son. Let’s just say Maggie and Ginger took care of everything for us! Our sweet little duo told them all about their past, and how they desperately wanted to be in a forever family together. That’s all it took for the family to know that these were their dogs! You know how it goes sometimes…come in for one dog, walk out with two! When Maggie and Ginger arrived at their new home they had new beds, toys, bones, and more waiting for their arrival. They immediately made themselves at home grabbing a bone and plopping down on their new bed like they had been there forever. Maggie even hopped up on the couch while her new mom was completing the paperwork…just to help out! The human girls will now have two furry siblings to keep them busy, in their new large yard! What a happy ending for a beautiful duo! And we can’t end this story without sharing that every member of this family surely suits the meaning of their surname, a gift from God for us and these two furry girls.
