Meet Hastings. Hastings is a male golden estimated to be about 7 to 8 years old who was picked up as a stray in Alabama. The shelter over there had him for several days and finally noticed he wasn’t walking or standing right. Some of our volunteers over there knew we had to step in and get this boy. Once at the vet, it was discovered he had probably been hit by a car and rolled. His shoulder was bruised but not broken and he had a severe road burn on his back… so severe that maggots were feeding off it. Hastings got a bath and his wounds cleaned out and is now better and well. Unfortunately, Hastings also had heartworms but thanks to Louise N. Lewis who recently passed away those little critters are also gone. Louise was a dog lover and this sponsorship was made in her memory by her daughter. Hastings thanks them both – thanks to them he has now found his new home. He is finally living the good life. Mom and dad are both retired and all of their kids are grown. Now Hastings will be the “child” at home. He’ll get tons of treats, loads of belly rubs and lots of love.
