Hero is a 6 year old male golden retriever. He found himself in a shelter in New Orleans. Yes, he came all the way from there to Adopt A Golden Atlanta because the rescue over there did not want to treat his heartworm disease. We were asked to take him and we said of course. We had some help getting him to Atlanta so thanks J & L Rescue in Mobile and thanks to our wonderful volunteers in Alabama. With the exception of his heartworm issue, Hero was no trouble at all. As you can see, he is a handsome, sweet guy! He knows sit, shake, heel, and down. Walks well on a leash, listens to commands, and like all goldens, only wants to please. He is also good with cats….didn’t give them a second glance…. and there were 9 of them where he spent the night on his journey to Atlanta. Hero needed a sponsor to pay for his heartworm treatment ($500) and one of our AGA alumni dogs begged her new family to help Hero. Caymus McQuaid didn’t have to beg much since her parents already knew how important it was to give a golden a second chance in life. Caymus has been showing them how much she loves them since the fist day she laid eyes on them. Thanks Caymus for being a very good AGA ambassador! Hero thanks you too. Hero has certainly met his share of heroes and now he has a new heroine in his mom. Mom is a 5-year cancer survivor who promised her 4.5 year old Golden Mac a buddy when they hit the 5 year mark. After multiple meetings Hero went to live with mom and Mac. These three are going to make beautiful golden music together.
