Jozee Lyn is a 6 year old purebred female golden retriever who was not recognizable. When she came to us, she weighed 142 pounds and has been shaved badly. To us she didn’t even look like a golden but after the shelter got her paperwork she realized that sure enough she is an AKC registered golden retriever, with a lengthy bloodline. However, she was in bad shape. Her skin was dry and flaky so we suspect thyroid which could help explain part of her weight also. Her teeth were bad shape which is a sign of eating people food anesthesia would be too dangerous. She was clearly uncomfortable by the weight, but this sweet 7 year old girl didn’t let the extra pounds weigh down her spirit! She is a vibrant and affectionate girl who has captured the hearts of many…especially her new family. They met Jozee at adoption day and after a second meeting it was evident that they already loved her. They sat in the grass with her, rubbed her belly, and decided to Foster-to-Adopt her. They were 99% sure they would adopt her but wanted to be 100% sure they were the right family for her, could give her what she needs, and that she would get along with their two cats. Jozee went home and fit right in!
Now Jozee is now on a nutritional and exercise plan that will gradually and safely get her down to an ideal weight. At her most recent vet visit this week, she weighed in at 129 pounds…so she is on her way…plus her skin and coat are looking healthy now thanks to the care her new family is giving her.
Our sweet lovebug Jozee now has a devoted dad, a caring and mindful mom, and two supportive sibling cats (Raymond and LuLu) to love and help her on the journey to become fit!
