Kentucky Jake is an owner surrender to a shelter in Kentucky. He is a 2 year old Great Pyrenees/Golden Retriever mix. Size-wise, he takes after the Great Pyr, but color-wise, he takes after the Golden. And temperment wise he is a golden! His former owner said that he loves cats, dogs, and kids; he was surrendered simply due to financial considerations. He weighs about 70lbs. What a good looking boy! And look at that smile. He had the misfortune to be turned in to an overcrowded kill shelter in Kentucky and was on the euthanasia list when a rescue in Kentucky volunteered to rescue him. Then the worst possible happened and his rescue fell through so he was a day away from being put down. Help came from our sister group Adopt A Golden Knoxville! With their contacts with Friends of Retrievers (F.O.R.) Kentucky Jake was pulled and a transport was formed to get him from Kentucky to Atlanta! Jake finally made it and is healthy and very happy now. He is now settling into his new home with his new feline companion, Squirt and his groovy new dad. Squirt is 14 years old and has been laying down the law for golden boys for some time now so we’re sure that Jake will not pose a challenge. Dad recently lost his 11 year old golden (and AGA alumni) to cancer and needed the pitter patter of golden feet to make home feels like home again. Lucky for dad, Squirt and Jake that Jake was their guy! Now Jake is living the good life. He’s getting spoiled by dad, bossed around and kneaded on for comfort by Squirt and soaking up the Atlanta sunshine and soon enough the Florida rays. Dad has a home in Tampa too and Jake will be dad’s road trip companion. Life is going to be one adventure after another!
