Meet Liam, he came in with Mick. They were dumped at an Animal Control late one night when they were closed. It was a high kill facility so Adopt A Golden Atlanta was called immediately the next morning and we rushed to the rescue! These two goldens had matching orange collars on but since they were dumped there is no information about their history. Liam is around 3 years old and had heartworms and needed a sponsor to pay for his treatment ($500). Friends of June Beless made donations in her memory and selected Liam to sponsor because June would have loved to help a dog such as Liam – particularly one with the friendship and partnership he apparently has with Mick. What a nice tribute to fabulous lady. Mick is a 1 year old firecracker – he liked to play, wrestle and chew on Liam. He still had a lot of puppy in him while Liam enjoyed quietly sitting by his humans. It was pretty clear these two were going to need specific forever homes, so we decided to separate them.
Liam met his new mom as he patiently watched applicants go by at the Pet Set. She was very taken with Liam’s serenity and was looking for a dog that wanted to spend time by her side. Liam was just her man and they adopted each other almost immediately! Liam, now Gus, has a large crate with upgraded bedding right in the master bedroom beside mom. He also has 2 grandchildren that he will help raise, they are 18 months old and just about his size. Gus’s new mom is putting him on the good food from the Red Banana store and her spanking new privacy fence is perfect for his bird and squirrel watching. So it looks like Gus AKA Liam gets his perfect rocking porch mom and his brother Mick found his new happy home too!
