Meet Lil Abner – a 4 ½ month male pup whose mom is Daisy Mae. Lil’ Abner is a special needs dog – he needed lots of help. He has seizures. Here is his story. He came from a breeder up in Tennessee on the boarder of North Georgia. He was bought at age 8 weeks and was returned to the breeder at around 12 weeks due to having 2 seizures. The breeder took him to the vet and “didn’t want to fool with him”. He told the vet that either a rescue could have him and his mother or he would take them to the kill shelter. A small rescue in the area took them in hopes of finding a golden rescue. They found us and in that time, Lil’ Abner’s seizures were coming more frequently. Unfortunately, during those 4 weeks, all the dog was given was valium. We brought him to a neurologist who got him on the right medication and performed other tests. Abner was not blind! We found a wonderful foster family and then a miracle happened. A family who had just moved to Atlanta wanted to get another dog. They had a 4 year old golden girl named Sky (they have a plane and yes, they take the Sky everywhere). Well, this Mom and Dad said they wanted to meet Lil Abner. It was love at first sight and Sky liked him too. There was no question that Lil Abner had found his forever home. Today, he lives a magical life in his new house with pool and lots of land to run with Sky and he has his very own boy (well, he shares him with Sky). And, he has a new name: BLUE. His family is prepared to care for him for the rest of his life and hope someday he can stop taking medication but the good news is he hasn’t had a seizure since he went on his meds. He is acting like any goofy golden puppy. This pup has been given a very special life thanks to all of you who donated to his medical fund. You gave him a new life.
