Lucy & Chance are the amazing duo that was recently sent our way. Lucy is 6 years old and is a very sweet golden girl. Chance is a golden that happens to be in a 160 pound Newfoundland costume. Lucy has been with Chance all her life and actually owes her life to him. A couple of years ago, Lucy got loose and ran across GA 400. She got clipped by a car and went down in the middle of the road. Chance saw what happened and ran across the highway and when he reached Lucy he actually laid his entire body on top of hers to protect her. He put his life in danger to help her. The oncoming cars stopped. When they came to us it was Chance that needed Lucy’s help because unlike AGA there are no Newfoundland rescue groups. Their mom was going through a divorce and could no longer care for these great dogs. We were determined to keep these dogs together and we did! Lucy and Chance’s story is a reflection of the power of the internet and indeed a bit of fate. Lucy and Chance’s new mom first learned about the pair in a golden retriever chat room. She and her husband have both Golden Retrievers and Newfoundlands and they were looking to adopt two more dogs. Within 24 hours of speaking with them, Lucy and Chance’s new mom and dad had loaded up the car in Maryland and began to trip to Atlanta. Lucy and Chance were taken back to Maryland where they are now living the good life. Their new home has a lake, a swimming pool, lots of land, and lots of new doggie brothers and sisters to run and play. Mom and dad are true dog lovers and the kids come to visit as often as they can. With all these wonderful new things the best thing about Lucy and Chance’s new home is that they have each other, and now, they always will.
