Now they call me Dexter. No more Lukey. I’m getting used to it though- it’s my new adopted name that my mom and dad picked out. Really, just about everything is new to me now. I am only one and I have never lived anywhere except outside in a pen with very little company and no one to teach me anything! Going in and out of doors, walking on steps, having good house manners and all that stuff. I’m trying to catch up and learn everything. I still feel a little shy about a lot of things. My mom and dad tell me I haven’t been “socialized” properly. When I was in that boarding place I watched the other dogs having a good time and I thought- “hey, that could be me!” So I’ve tried really hard to be adventurous and to do new things. I’ve been helping out around here. I have a real talent for yard work and they made a movie of me working. It was a lot of fun! So now I’m all settled in my new home and there is not a backyard pen in sight. That’s the first thing I made sure of because a golden is a people dog and we do not like to live alone. Just ask me! Thank you everyone for helping a lonely dog find out what it’s like to really be happy. Your friend, Lukey ( now Dexter)
