Meet Madison, the canine version of Benjamin Button. Well, maybe not really but is a young pup in an older dogs body. He is 10 years old and looks and acts half that age. He is a purebred male golden retriever from Alabama. His former owner could no longer afford to take care of him and took him to an Alabama Humane Society. It was a kill shelter so thankfully they told the owner to contact AGA. One of our wonderful volunteers over there went and got Madison. Fortunately, Madison was given all his vaccines by his former owner prior to surrendering him, Given his age, we were expecting a sedate, laid back kind of guy or maybe even a sleepy old gentlemen. Well, not so much. This boy loves nothing better than to race around after a ball and can keep the activity going for quite a while! Once he was in a fenced yard and he spent over half an hour running at full speed…all around the fence…he got a soccer ball and chased it between his paws, rolled over it, carried it in his mouth…when we finally coaxed him inside about a half hour later…he still didn’t stop moving. He sure was happy to be free! And now he is even happier to be home with his new mom and dad. Dad works from home and mom works part-time
so this velcro guy will have plenty of people time. He also has two golden sisters, Lacie and Dixie too. Six year old Lacy, who works herself part-time with elementary students who are having a hard time reading (sometimes it’s a lot easier to read to a friendly furry face than to a teacher, you know!). Madison is a wonderful dog and his new life is going to be filled with lots of cuddles, fetch, walks, and happily ever after!
