Maggie Mae is a golden who we initially thought was a yellow lab but we could not turn our back on. She is approximately 8 years old and is severely overweight and has had a very hard life. Reports have her living in a neighborhood where children would pull out her hair for “fun” when she was in a crate that was too small for her (that’s why we thought she was a lab because she was nearly hairless when we got her but look at her now!) She had nails that had never been cut and curled under so she was unable to walk. When she was out of her crate, she was beat up by some other dogs and couldn’t run to defend herself. A lady rescued her about a month ago but become ill and could no longer keep any of her animals. We said we would help Maggie Mae. Maggie Mae is a testament to what a great temperament really is…. she doesn’t have a mean bone in her body and is loving and gentle. She is now on a diet and her hair is growing back and at Thanksgiving with 12 people and kids, she was the hit of the day. Everyone loves this dog and one family has agreed to love her forever. Maggie has been adopted into a wonderful home where she will be queen of the castle. Her new family lost their previous golden very recently so Maggie fills a very special place in everyone’s heart, not to mention in mom and dad’s king size bed. With a throne like that Maggie knows she’s got it good. She even has a 12 year old boy to play with. She is still working on her weight and with a new diet and walking plan she is sure to be trim and healthy in no time. Maggie Mae finally has the life she has always deserves- a very golden one filled with lots of love and belly rubs.
