Meet Manhattan Rusty! This handsome, 7-year-old golden boy started out in Florida, enjoying the beach and the great outdoors. Then his family moved to New York City and he found himself cooped up in an apartment, alone all day and upstaged by a new baby. Add to that a thyroid problem that wasn’t being treated properly — and the result was a downhearted dog that needed a change of scene. Rusty’s owners heard about AGA and cared enough to drive 1800 miles to bring him down here, trusting we could give him a new family and a new lease on life. He found a new home in no time, but it turned out not to be the right family after all, so he had a change of heart and came back to AGA. After a little patience, determination and lots of due diligence, he is now in a REALLY FOREVER home. In no time at all, he has already bonded with his new mom After their first meeting, mom was in love and she didn’t even care that he snarls his lip sometimes and that he hates kids in his face. Mom is retired and has Rusty by her side day and night. They live on Lake Lanier which is perfect for the swimmer in Rusty (and good for keeping his weight down)! They enjoy long walks and calm evenings together. In fact, if there’s nothing better to do he is perfectly happy to just curl up at mom’s feet (or her bedside) and take a nap! He is a loyal, protective pal, an instinctive watchdog who is going to give his new mom many, many wonderful years of joy!
