Meet Martha & George, proud parents of the Patriotic Pups of 2009. We got them just before the 4th of July in 2009 from a puppy mill in Missouri. Martha was pregnant and George seemed very attached to her so we assumed George could be the daddy. Martha gave birth to a fine litter that we called the Patriotic Pups. Half were golden and half were golden doodles. Yes, two dads were involved so Martha had been cheating. We never could confirm if George was one of the dads or not but it didn’t matter – these two really loved each other. After the pups were weaned, we reunited Martha and George and they were adopted as a pair. Then a change in their then owners’ lives cause them to make the very hard decision to turn them back into AGA so they could find another home. After weeks of keeping them together, we have placed them with different foster families and it was a good thing because they both thrived. George ventured out and became much more of a regular dog. However, after a while these two really missed each other – absence really does make the heart grow fonder. So 4 year old George was reunited with his older lady Martha age 7. Martha was like a very proper aunt. very cautious in new situations and very independent. She likes sunshine, short walks, and snoozing in the room with her people. She get lonesome if she’s by herself, and really loves her boyfriend George. George is very HANDSOME. He was used as a stud dog in an unsocialized puppy mill. He’s adjusting to “normal” life but I still get nervous with new sights and sounds – that’s where Martha comes in and takes his nervousness away. So we were able to reunite these two love birds and they couldn’t be happier. A wonderful woman who recently lost her senior golden has started looking for a new best friend, we had an idea that she might be just perfect for this special duo and that if so Martha and George would be together again. We introduced them separately and all went well. Then we brought them together and the deal was sealed. Martha and George will live a quiet life in a big house that is fenced all the way around and even has an elevator should they ever not be able to navigate the stairs (yes, the elevator was put in for the senior golden). You can just imagine how spoiled our Martha and George will be! HIP HIP HOORAY AND JUST IN TIME FOR THE 4TH OF JULY! What a beautiful reunion!
