Meet Miss Matilda. She is a sweet older female golden retriever approximately 8-10 years old. She was picked up in an outlying county near the Animal Shelter. The nice lady at the shelter said she is a great dog and must have been “dumped” by her owner– maybe to avoid being put down quickly because she is such a sweetheart with very good manners. In fact, the staff liked her so much they let her just hang out with them in the office. She had been there for 3 weeks! Once we met her, we understood why the shelter couldn’t put her down. She is very cuddly and loves attention but doesn’t demand it. She is simply “polite” and obedient. These, among many other wonderful attributes, must have been why mom fell for her instantly. Mom (in her own words) said she was very excited and delighted to have Matilda as her “new daughter”. The entire family decided threw a “Welcome-Home” to celebrate her arrival! In fact, they will all be helping Matilda get to know her new home and her 100 acres of land! She is definitely going to be spoiled rotten!
She may have been a day late for an official Thanksgiving, but it sounds like she and her new mom both have plenty to be thankful for now.
