Hello all you golden retriever fans! I am an 8 year old, purebred fellow, and people always tell me what a big, handsome boy I am. I used to live with another dog who left to go to the Rainbow Bridge, and I became so lonesome that my owner thought it would be best if I could find a new home with either another dog or with someone who was willing to spend a lot of time with me and cheer me up. I missed my other friend so much that I just wasn’t really acting like myself, so I needed someone special. The other day, I met the nicest lady in the entire world. She told me how she had had 3 Goldens just like me who had to go to Rainbow Bridge, and she missed them very much. We had this in common. I put my head in her lap and told her I’d like to be her buddy, her best friend. Before I knew it, she took me home with her and became my forever mommy…but more importantly, she became my forever friend and I, hers. I have a REALLY cool new human dad who knows how to fly like a bird in something called a “plane!” I’ve been trying to fly for YEARS! Dad’s just really smart. I have two teenage human brothers, too. One of them plays lacrosse, and he said he will invite me to his games as long as I don’t try to chase after the ball! I’m so glad my human mommy brought me into her home. We already have so many activities planned together, and I’ve promised to take care of her for the rest of my life. Want to know what our favorite thing to do together is? Go on GOLF CART rides! Yes! It’s SO WONDERFUL because we Goldens love to stick our head out the window anyway, but in a golf cart, the wind blows at you from all directions! My ears and lips flap in the wind, and it’s the best feeling ever. I was really worried about having to find a new family after my friend went away, but Mom and I are two dogs of a fur…I mean, two birds of a feather. Thanks to my foster family and everyone at AGA who stroked my fur and told me that the perfect family would be out there waiting for me. You all were right, and you kept me smiling the whole way. I’ll never forget you. Your friend, Maximus
