UPDATE: Immediately following his neuter, Spumoni developed a pneumothorax ( basically a hole in his lung that was leaking air into his chest cavity.) No one knows why he developed the pneumothrax. Usually these occur after an injury or if the lung is damaged from cancer or an infection. He was rushed to GVS where they did a chest tap and removed the air. He was doing fine yesterday; it appeared the leak was small and had sealed over and he was being released. He was scheduled to be moved back to his regular vet today. Unfortunately at 5:30 this morning Midnight took a bad turn for the worse. His lung leak was severe and was leaking air a great amount of air. Even with the most aggressive treatments (surgery) his chances for recovery were very very slim. We elected tp let Midnight cross the bridge.
Meet Midnight Spumoni. He is black with wavy hair and may be a flat-coated Retriever. He is a beautiful dog and very sweet. He gets along well with people and with dogs. He is about 2 years old and weighs around 45 pounds . He was surrendered by his owner to a local shelter. His name is Midnight so we will call him Midnight Spumoni so he can celebrate with our “ice cream names for the month of June”. He is happy and healthy and ready for a new home.
