I started out to train to be a dog for a veteran. My two litter mates were going to train with me but they had something wrong with their elbows called dysplasia. At first I didn’t think I had the same problem but it turned out I do and AGA took me to a dog elbow doctor who is going to fix mine so they won’t hurt anymore and I can run and play after they get better. Lots of people asked about adopting me but only one family wanted to find out more and they went to the doctor with me and my foster. The bad news is that it is going to cost a LOT of money to fix my elbows. The family was very sad and went home thinking I would have to be an angel dog because my problem was so serious. Well, we all forgot that AGA always says, “Never say never”! They are making a special “Raise dollars for Mike” plan and asking everyone who loves goldens to help me. After I have one elbow fixed I have to have exercises and let it get well. Then I wait and the other elbow gets fixed, More exercises next and then I’ll be all better. . I have to be patient and do whatever the doctor says but the best part is that the family who went with me to the doctor are going to adopt me after all. They will be my therapists who help with the exercises. They will say, “It’s OK Mike, you can do it!” I will have a mom and dad and a sister all looking after me. There is no way everything could not turn out right when a dog has that much help! What makes it special, though, is that they want to help because they love me. What a perfect Christmas present AGA and my family are giving me! Love and thanks to everyone- Mike
