Molly is a purebred female golden retriever. She is 3 years old and used to be a breeder dog. A couple in NC had another golden retriever and a toy poodle and were so disturbed when they learned of Molly and the conditions Molly was living in –they just had to bring her home. The breeder told them that they were getting rid of her because they couldn’t keep all of the goldens that they had. All of the goldens were in a muddy fence behind a barn with rusty water troughs to drink out of. She is a very affectionate dog, very sweet but also very shy and has low self esteem. Molly and the resident 7 month old white toy poodle got along fine with the poodle sleeping on Mollie’s paws at times. Unfortunately Molly also had a white plush bunny that she played with. One day they heard commotion in the backyard and saw Molly shaking what they thought was the white bunny but it was actually the white toy poodle. After speaking with the vet, it was determined that it may have been a case of mistaken identity on Molly’s part. The poodle was badly hurt but survived. Sadly, the family felt they had to surrender Molly to avoid this happening again. The previous owners just loved Molly and said over and over again that the poodle probably provoked the attack. Three golden retriever rescues in SC and NC would not take Molly because of this one incident! Of course when we learned about her we just had to help! Now she has a new mom and dad that she is quickly bonding with. Dad is retired so he and Molly are becoming fast friends. Molly also has grown human siblings that visit often and human nieces and nephews too. Even better, her human siblings have goldens. So Molly will get her share of canine love and play too. Then we they leave Molly will have mom and dad all to herself again – just like she likes it!
