I think it’s been a long time since anyone took care of me. It’s hard to remember exactly but what’s worse than having no medicine or good food or visits to a dog doctor is that no person really wanted to look after me. I was a stray and the people at the shelter gave me a ride to their place where AGA found me. I can’t tell you how nice it is to be warm and to have good food again. It’s especially nice to have someone talk to me and pet my head. I got a bath and something to get rid of a lot of fleas and some medicine for my ears. My coat was brushed and all the mats cut out. Once I was a strong and handsome golden retriever and I was so proud of myself. Now I have arthritis in my hips and they think I might be about 10 years old. The worst news is that I have heartworms. When I first got here I asked for help to pay for the medicine I needed. It costs $500 and it wasn’t too long before a famous angel came to help me. Her name is Gabriella – isn’t that a pretty name to have? She is famous because she has helped so many goldens. I don’t know her and we have never met but I do know that she is the kind of person with whom, if I could rest my head in her lap, I would feel safe. It’s a sad thing to get older and for my life to be like this but she makes me smile! I know AGA will do everything they can to help me so that I can find my own home and family. I know I need some very special people to give me more time. All my love, Monty
