Meet Nantucket — a beautiful 2-3 year old blonde female golden. We got her in the nick of time from a kill shelter up in the north Georgia mountains. We took her to the vet and discovered she had been shot – yes, shot in the face with a small caliber gun – probably a 22. You can see in this photo that the bullet entered her left jaw (side of face)and exited on the right shattering her upper and lower canine teeth on the right. We had to have those teeth pulled. We will never know what happened to her but we can tell you that she is all golden — she still loves people and adores other dogs. A wonderful young lady who had grown up with goldens all her life was looking for her new companion. She had been volunteering with us to get her golden “fix” and she met Nantucket at one of our adoption days. She could think of nothing but her for days so she knew she had found her dog. Today, they are joined at the hip. They go running and Nantucket gets to go to Doggy Day Care when Mom works. After a long day, both Mom and Nantucket are dog tired. Nantucket has found her forever home just in time for the holidays. Nantucket wants lots of toys and we think she will get anything she wants.
