Meet Nick. This 12 year old golden boy came to us with a heartbreaking story. Nick’s former neighbor learned that his family was moving “RIGHT NOW” and planned on burying Nick in the backyard! No one knew if he planned on taking Nick to a vet to be euthanized or what. The neighbor pestered him until he agreed to call AGA – especially considering that when she came back from running some errands Nick’s former owner was digging his grave and talked about burning some newspapers! Of course we were happy to take Nick in. He texted us some pictures of Nick which showed him tethered, which the neighbor said was how we spent all of his time. So four anxiety-filled hours later, the owner finally delivered Nick to one of our vets. Down on his luck, Nick tested positive for heartworms but within 24 hours, Nick set the record and had 5 sponsors offering to pay for him. We chose the first family that offered (while the other families graciously offered to help other orphans in need!). So thanks to the Dubois family (specifically, Jenny and Kelley). What a lucky boy to have so many people jump at the chance to be his guardian angel! Nick entered foster care with a new foster mom and a 7 year old blue tick coonhound and two cats. Of course Nick, being the perfect little gentleman, instantly won them over. Then the day came when a home was found for Nick and his foster mom answered the phone saying “Are you calling to take my sweet Nicky?” Mom couldn’t give him up! We now have our newest member to the “Foster Failure Hall of Fame” and a definite happy ending for this sweet boy!
